Hunger has gripped the nation for years. Now, it’s killing people and animals that are dying of starvation. The Venezuelan government knows, but won’t admit it!!! Four in five Venezuelans live in poverty. People queue for hours to buy food. Much of the time they go without. People are also dying from a lack of medicines. Inflation is at 82,766% and there are warnings it could exceed one million per cent by the end of this year. Venezuelans are trying to get out. The UN says 2.3 million people have fled the country - 7% of the population.

MIPCOM 2012: Nonfiction American Shows Finalizing Deals Abroad Ahead of Four-Day

Deals include contracts in Asia for "Police Women of Cincinnati & Broward County" and "Animal Hoarding," as well as "Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee" in Russia.

Deals for nonfiction series made in America are already heating up on the Cannes Croisette before the four-day Mipcom market actually kicks into official gear Monday morning.

Gary Benz's L.A.-based GRB Entertainment has just racked up a number of commitments for several of its current series.

They include a contract with Fox International Channels - Asia for Police Women of Cincinnati & Broward County, which airs Stateside on TLC. With AETN Asia the company closed on Animal Hoarding (Animal Planet in the U.S.) and On the Case (Discovery Investigation).
Puls in Poland picked up Untold Stories of the ER, which airs on Discovery Fit & Health in the U.S., while First HDTV Russia has licensed Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee, which airs on the Food Network.

No financial details of the deals were made available.
"We are delighted with our first round of deals and are looking forward to our busiest Mipcom yet, offering several new programs as well as acquiring titles for our newly launched Uppercut Pictures division," Benz, who is president and CEO, said Sunday.
Also in GRB's catalog of 3,000 hours is Intervention, which nabbed the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Series in 2009.
