Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world. It was once so rich that Concorde used to fly from Caracas to Paris. But in the last three years its economy has collapsed. Hunger has gripped the nation for years. Now, it’s killing people and animals that are dying of starvation. The Venezuelan government knows, but won’t admit it!!! Four in five Venezuelans live in poverty. People queue for hours to buy food. Much of the time they go without. People are also dying from a lack of medicines. Inflation is at 82,766% and there are warnings it could exceed one million per cent by the end of this year. Venezuelans are trying to get out. The UN says 2.3 million people have fled the country - 7% of the population.

Industry News: Incentives Oklahoma

In response to the resent discussion concerning States cutting back or completely dissolving their incentives for productions, Oklahoma is offering up to a 37% rebate for qualifying production expenditures.
Though Oklahoma is still building the infrastructure needed to support productions coming to our state we have been able host recent productions such as „The Killer Inside Me‰, „Bringing Up Bobby‰ and the yet untitled Terrence Malick production, to name a few. These productions having names attached such as Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson, Simon Baker, Bill Pullman, Milla Jovovich ,Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams.
While Killer and Bobby were not huge budget productions by Hollywood standards they were in the budget realm of what Oklahoma is able to attract and support. Don't get me wrong, we are growing and we would love the big budget productions.

Oklahoma is currently limited to a $5 million per year cap on rebates, but while other States are cutting back Oklahoma is attempting to expand that cap. Like many States we are suffering from budget short falls, but unlike other States we are solvent. We have a Governor and Legislature, both Democrat and Republican, that support the growth of productions in Oklahoma. So, not only are you looking for the best rebate for your production but you are also looking for a State that will have the money available when it comes time to collect that rebate. No IOUs from Oklahoma.

So if you are looking for a place to shoot your movie, TV show or commercial Oklahoma might be the place for you. I know this may sound like an ad for Oklahoma but isn‚t our goal to shoot low and sell high?

Oh yea, another benefit of shooting in Oklahoma, many expatriates of Oklahoma
qualify for the rebate, both ATL and BTL, and we have many many famous actors and
actresses, as well as musicians, that come from Oklahoma.
