Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world. It was once so rich that Concorde used to fly from Caracas to Paris. But in the last three years its economy has collapsed. Hunger has gripped the nation for years. Now, it’s killing people and animals that are dying of starvation. The Venezuelan government knows, but won’t admit it!!! Four in five Venezuelans live in poverty. People queue for hours to buy food. Much of the time they go without. People are also dying from a lack of medicines. Inflation is at 82,766% and there are warnings it could exceed one million per cent by the end of this year. Venezuelans are trying to get out. The UN says 2.3 million people have fled the country - 7% of the population.

New Independent Cable Television Show - Call for Submissions

Organization: Olive Tree Productions - The producers of Olive Tree Productions are producing a new half hour cable television spotlighting independent filmmakers. The show will air in three markets, LA, NYC & SF beginning in March 2011.

We are seeking submissions from filmmakers worldwide. It's a chance for the filmmaker to be interviewed on camera and have their short film or a clip from their feature or documentary film aired on a cable television channel.

We are accepting film submissions in the following categories:

• SHORT FILMS (must be completed, 5 – 25 minutes in length only.)
• FEATURES (Comedy, Drama, Family, Romance, Thrillers -completed, in production)
• DOCUMENTARIES.

If interested, please send your bio and a link to your work to the e-mail below. If you are selected, you will be invited to appear on the show and tell us about your film, the film making process (the joys and frustrations of production), where your film is now (festivals, a distribution deal etc.) and what's next for you.

There is no fee for submission.
