We are in pre-production on a film which recently won a large cash grant for production. We've got a small, dedicated and experienced team together and are looking to expand - We'd like to find a savvy, hardworking producer to join us.
Work will include additional fundraising efforts, lining up crew, and reaching out to production companies and casting directors. Because the film has both African American and Jewish themes, someone familiar with either of those communities would be a big plus - although not necessary.
The film is a comedy with dramatic elements,"Do The Right Thing" meets "Raising Victor Vargas" with a healthy dose of Woody Allen thrown in for good measure. It is about two learning disabled kids - an overweight black girl and a neurotic Jewish boy - who become unlikely friends in New York City during the summer of 1991.
The writer/director works in commercials and his previous films have won awards at various film festivals, including Tribeca. The producer currently on the film has made three prior features and would welcome the addition of someone with a unique and compelling skill set
We're looking to shoot in NYC later this year or early next year. Until we get closer to production, it is an unpaid position. Please contact: wannabefilm@gmail.com
